Kennett fails to comment on issue: Beyond Blue gets in touch

Mental health organization Beyond Blue chairman Jeff Kennett found himself on the receiving end of his own organizations’ work earlier today when contacted by a social worker who inquired about his mental state.

The former premier, who has a habit of involving himself in all manner of political and social issues, failed to make a public comment about an inane issue in parliament yesterday and this had alarm bells ringing. “He’s always sticking his nose in where it doesn’t belong” a spokesman for Beyond Blue said. “When a persons’ nature changes to become quiet and reserved it can be one of the early signs of depression, and so when ‘Jeffy’ failed to make his usual public comment about an issue we began to get worried”. The spokesman said the organization was relieved that Kennett was well, but wished that he would inform them next time he was going to refrain from commenting on an issue, so as to avoid a repeat of the episode.

In a half an hour statement Kennett briefly thanked the Beyond Blue spokesman for the organizations’ concern, explaining that his failure to comment on the issue was not because he was feeling particularly down in the morning,  but because he just didn’t know about it. He assured the media throng that he would make a statement about it soon, and went on to prove his good health by commenting on a range of other issues.
